The Languedoc region stretches along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, through the Camargue and to the foothills of the Cevennes. It offers a diverse range of winegrowing landscapes and a mosaic of terroirs tamed by the work of ages.

Vignobles Jeanjean is a pledge to embrace this richness and diversity in wines that are as dazzling and distinctive as the terroirs in which they were born. Laroche, based at Mas La Chevalière near Béziers, continues to explore every facet offered by Chardonnay.

Vignobles Jeanjean

Since 1872, the Jeanjean family has developed the most beautiful terroirs in the Languedoc region. Vignobles Jeanjean currently consists of nine estates, covering 200 hectares, all of which are organically farmed: Mas de Lunès (AOP Grés de Montpellier and IGP Pays d’Oc), Château Valoussière (AOP Languedoc), Domaine Le Pive (IGP Sable de Camargue), Domaine de Fenouillet (AOP Faugères), Mas Neuf (IGP Pays d’Oc), Domaine de Landeyran (AOP Saint Chinian Roquebrun and Saint Chinian), Domaine du Causse d’Arboras (AOP Terrasses du Larzac and IGP Saint-Guilhem-Le-Désert), Domaine des Terres Blanches (AOP Picpoul de Pinet) and Domaine des Rocs (AOP Pic Saint-Loup).

Brigitte Jeanjean is Director and Ambassador of the family estates. Matthieu Carliez, Technical Director of the nine properties, has been working with her for 20 vintages. Together they have crafted a distinctive style of satisfying wines that are intense, fruity, bright, balanced and fresh.

Laroche also owns Mas La Chevalière in the Languedoc region and produces Chardonnay wines that are its glowing signature around the world. The estate has established partnerships with producers in cooler-climate areas such as the Orb Valley, Limoux and Cévennes. Key to the wine’s success is the performance of the site’s cellar techniques (cutting-edge gravity-fed transfer and refrigeration systems), energy management (Mas La Chevalière became a zero-energy operation in 2019 in the summer months) and natural resource management, including lower water consumption.

The property is becoming a pioneer in innovative research and development projects. It was awarded the Special Jury Prize of the Trophées de la Performance Énergétique de l’Industrie Agroalimentaire in 2021.
