The Winemakers & Terroirs for the Future competition

The Winemakers & Terroirs for the Future competition was established by AdVini, Institut Agro Montpellier and the Institut Agro Fondation in 2015 to support business creation and growth led by talented young wine winemakers based in high-potential terroirs.

Origins of the Vignerons et Terroirs d’Avenir competition

As a major player in the wine industry, we have a responsibility to contribute as much as we’ve received. With fewer people taking up the profession and the complexity involved in getting started, we decided to join forces with Institut Agro Montpellier and Institut Agro Fondation in 2015 to create the Vignerons et Terroirs d’Avenir competition.

The objectives of the competition

The Vignerons et Terroirs d’Avenir competition has three priorities:

People

Helping young entrepreneurs become established winegrowers

Heritage

Protecting the industry in high-potential and historical wine-making areas that are threatened by urbanization and the abandonment of vineyards

Education

Helping train and establish networks for engineering students in the ‘wine making and oenology’ program at Institut Agro Montpellier to give them a leg up on the job market

In-kind sponsorship and expertise

The Vignerons et Terroirs d’Avenir competition is organized by the Fondation de l’Institut Agro.

With our donation to the foundation, the competition offers a total of €70,000 in prize money, divided into two prizes of €50,000 and €20,000.

Our commitment goes beyond this financial endowment. Every year, AdVini employees provide support for the oral exam preparation seminar held prior to the competition. Our employees act as consultants at the one-day event to challenge contestants as they prepare their presentation. Assigned to specific areas of expertise, they offer vision and guidance to young entrepreneurs on a broad range of specialty subjects such as ampelography, viticulture, business management and commercial strategy.
